The first half of 2018 is over, and that can only mean one thing: iPhone rumors are popping off.
The latest rumor comes courtesy of Macotara.jp, which claims Apple will finally, finallyditch the standard USB-A charger that's included with every iPhone for one with USB-C.
SEE ALSO: How to Get More Out of Your iPhone With Accessibility FeaturesAccording to the Japanese fan blog (which has a mixed track record on rumors it reports), this year's new iPhones might come with an 18-watt charger that includes a USB-C port.
To be clear, the new iPhones will still have a Lightning port (it's highly unlike Apple's gonna swap it out for USB-C). But with USB-C on the charger brick, that means the new iPhones will probably ship with a Lighting-to-USB-C cable in the box, as well.

It would also mean one other thing: MacBook and MacBook Pro owners (y'all with the ones that only have USB-C) will finally have a way to connect their iPhones to their laptops without having to buy a separate cable.
That's a big effing deal.
Not only that, but for anyone who travels, it'll also mean you won't need to carry a separate power brick if your other devices use USB-C cables.
And lastly, if — and that's a big if— Apple ships the new iPhones with an 18-watt charger, it'd be powerful enough to fast charge the devices. For comparison, the charger that currently comes with the iPhone is only 5-watts.
As our tests have shown, fast charging is really handy and significantly cuts down charging time especially when your iPhone's critically low on power.
9to5Mac is skeptic about the authenticity of the leaked images of the charging brick — the text is a little sketchy looking — and suggests it could be a knockoff. Fingers crossed the leak is legit tho. Please, please let it be true.
