It's been a rocky couple of months for Apple's retail operations.
In March, the company shut down all of its stores outside China due to the coronavirus pandemic. In early May, Apple started to slowly reopen its stores, only to temporarily shut some of them down again in the U.S. later that month due to nationwide protests against police brutality and systemic racism.
Now, the company is once again trying to return to normal, but in a very careful fashion. According to 9to5Mac, Apple has announced that it'll re-open its stores in "many more US locations," including New York City, "this week."
All in all, around 70 stores should be re-opened in the U.S. and Canada.
"We're proud to stand beside New Yorkers as they emerge from this incredibly difficult time. All stores continue to practice additional steps for the health of employees and customers, including temperature checks, face coverings and social distancing," the company said.
There's a catch, though: In some locations, including some stores in Connecticut and New York, the stores are operating by appointment only, and in certain locations, including Delaware, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the stores are only offering curbside service and sales.
The company has also reopened five retail locations in Canada.
