Tinder hit number one as the top grossing app on the App Store for the first time ever, all thanks to your unprecedented levels of thirst.
The swipe-based dating platform shot to the top spot after introducing Tinder Gold, a new premium tier that allows users to see everyone who has already liked them ... for a price.
The new subscription service was announced back in June, but finally rolled out to users worldwide earlier this week. The influx of new subscribers hoping to make connections even more easily likely drove the dating app to the top spot.
Tinder CPO Brian Norgard celebrated the number one ranking with a tweet trumpeting the value of subscription packages for the app, which is otherwise free.

Tinder Gold removes ads from a user's lineup and also offers a few other hacks to pile up matches, like Boosts, which make you the top profile in a set area for 30 minutes, and Super Likes, which notify people that you're reallyinterested. The new premium tier is a few dollars more per month than Tinder Plus, which offers many of the same perks minus the ability to reveal who has already swiped your way.
Tinder's new features have certainly paid off for the app — but for those of you who are unlucky in love and hoping that Gold will give you an edge: putting yourself in front of the pack can only do so much. Paying to see who liked you isn't worth a thing if no one swipes your way.
